The last day

This is it, the last day of our 10 day vacation.  The kids have been having a blast. Walker has spent most of her time on the couch watching movies. She has had her own personal Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen marathon. Thank goodness for the free month of Netflix!  Quinn has been roaming the neighborhood with the boys of the street. I finished all of the ironing and laundry.  Not much left to do. I am looking forward to starting school again tomorrow.

I'm taking it back

My house that is. It is a mess and there is stuff everywhere.  We are day 3 of no school due to 3-5 inches of snow with ice on top.  This area is not equipped to handle that type of accumulation.  We havent seen a snow plow at all.  Some of the roads started to melt but then everything refroze last night.  The schools parking lots are still totally covered. We will be lucky if we have school at all this week!!

The kids are having a blast.  Everyday they are outside at 9am dressed for the weather.  There isnt much sledding left since everything is rock hard but they are finding a way to have fun.  They are spending more time inside because it is even colder out and the wind is blowing.

Sledding videos

Walker going down the neighbors driveway.

Quinn is using his boogie board from St. John to sled at DES.

Snow Day

The kids and the dog have been enjoying their first "big" snow in Atlanta.  They alternate houses for snacks and have been outside 4 times for sledding.  One of the times we headed over to Dunwoody Elementay School to go down the hill there that is bigger than our neighbors driveway.  They are gearing up for another run on the sleds.  Even Jay made it out!  All of the cold weather gear we have been hanging onto finally came in handy!

Snow white

This is going to sound funny but I had forgotten how white snow can be. Winters up North all came back to me when it started snowing tonight. You could see the flakes coming down and landing on the ground. It was dark and black except for the snow.  As it continued everything began to turn white and it is almost like the sky lightened.  So now when you look out the window you see snow covering everything and you can hear it falling.  It brings back many fond winter memories.

North pole

It snowed all day on Tuesday, big, wet flakes.
