Saturday Softball

Both kids had another great day playing softball. I remembered my camera this time (thanks Suz). The Barracudas beat the sharks in extra innings, 7-6.

After a great day at the ball field it was off to St. Thomas for a wedding.

Sunday was a beautiful day. We finally made it to the beach. We are planning on taking our boat out next weekend. It is getting serviced on Tuesday so it should be good to go.

Update...I am having trouble uploading the picts from the weekend. It is time for bed so I will try tomorrow.

Roof

Look what we are getting...a tile roof. The house does not leak so bad anymore.

A Funny

So we are sitting on the barge waiting to go to St.Thomas for a wedding. As we are sitting here we are watching this couple search through their car on land for 20 minutes looking for something. We figuired it was their keys but we could see the keys from where we were sitting in the car door so we figuired it was something else. Nope it was the keys. One of the barge employees went over and "found" them. We wondered how they got where they were since they were no where near the ferry loading area.

Gold Mine

On Sunday we were picking up the kids from Sunday School and as we drove past the dumpster I saw this bag outside of it. Jay had to stop at the gas station so I ran across the street to see what it was. I scored a whole bag of christmas decorations, lights, ribbons, gift tags and two floats! Sunday night, at a different dumpster I scored 2 plastic storage containers for school. I hit the dumpster jackpot on Sunday!

For those of you who might not know about this tradition...people put things outside of the dumpster that someone else might find use out of, like our old couches!

It's ours now

Jay picked up the boat today after tball. He spent the time during softball cleaning the garbage out of it. Jay and Quinn drove the boat back to Chocolate Hole. Walker and I met them there and went out for a ride. The boat is 26 feet long and almost as old as me! It does have shade and plenty of seating. It needs some cleaning up but overall looks ok.
Softball and tball went great again. Sorry but I do not have any pictures. I keep forgetting my camera. Hopefully next week!

Boat

We are now boat owners.  Jay is going to pick it up tomorrow. This ought to be interesting!

Grand Central

I came home from school on Thursday and who is at the house...the electrician, the cable guy, 3 roofers and our landlord.  It was crazy. Our landlord is currently wrapping the roof to put the roof tiles on.  We figuired it would take at least 2 years before it actually happened.  It is not done yet but it is progressing.

Wagapalooza and Music in the Moonlight

Last night was the Animal Care Centers Wagapalooza. It is a festival for dogs with a whole bunch of different contests the dogs can enter. We did not take Roosie with us, she did not enjoy it last year. Heather let Walker and Quinn enter her dog Oliver into the best tail contest. They came in 3rd! Both kids had their faces painted and ran around like all wild children do. Jay and I stood around and talked with our friends.

Music in the Moonlight was at Moongoose Junction. It was a bunch of local artists playing 4-5 songs each. There were tons of people there. The kids ran around like wild kids and Jay and I enjoyed the music. Next year we are going to get a babysitter.

Welcome to the big top!

I came home yesterday to get ready for a pool party with my pre kindergarten class and this is what I find over the entrance to our house.  It looks like a circus tent!  As it turns out our landlord went to "fix" the leaks and he discovered that his gutters had rotted. So now instead of it coming in under the front door and through the electrical outlets,  the water has two more entry points down the wall.  Water is everywhere.  I cannot wait to go home today and see all even more water. We have been having downpours every hour or so.  It has rained on and off for 2 weeks.  The land of fun and sun has become the land of rain.  Hopefully we will be able to get the games in tomorrow.

Photos from Opening Day

Quinn's coach likes to call him Pedroia...as in Dustin Pedroia 2nd baseman for the Red Sox.
Slugger gets ready to bat. She was awesome!

Quinn with Adelaide on 3rd looking fabulous as usual!

Today was opening day for tball and softball. Both kids played softball and Quinn also plays tball. I will brag about my kids for a minute and say that they did great. The one that surprised the most, Walker. She had 3 hits all of them solid hits in the infield. Quinn loves just being out there! They are letting him play softball with the bigger kids. Softball is a bit hard for him since he is that much smaller than everyone else but that does not matter, he can still play. He hit a home run in tball. It made it out of the infield in the air. It was a great day at the ballfield. See you there next Saturday!

Rain

I dont know if it will ever stop raining. There does not look like an end. Most days have been overcast with some passing showers. I have actually worn pants and a sweat shirt to school. Here is a photo from one of the rainy days.

Ball

http://www.onepaper.com/stjohnvi/?v=d&i=&s=News:Local&p=1223618100

Here is an article about the softball and tball programs that the kids are participating in. Practice was cancelled for the next few days. Hopefully we will get the 1st game in on Saturday. It rained about 8 inches today and everything is wet. There is a prety good chance it will rain on and off all week. We really needed the rain. Our cistern was low, the pool was low, and everything is very brown.

Boat

Could this be the one?

Mail

About a week ago a small plane carrying mail to St. Thomas caught on fire. Here is a letter we received on Friday. It has a bit of water damage. I hope my People Magazine was not on that plane. Here is the full story.

Classic

Our landlord had our air condition installed in the main room today. We came home from the beach and it was running. I ran into town for bread. When I came back Jay informed me that it only worked for a bit. It seems the condenser does not work on this one either. The a/c in the kids room does not work either. It is the condenser. So do you think it was that they just sat doing nothing but getting rained on for months, actually a year plus, that made them not work? Jay says its not that, its just that they are cheap.

Friday

It is Friday. No School for us. It is Carnivale time on St.Thomas. Today is the childrens parade. I have no desire to go over there for the parade so the kids and I are headed to our favorite place, Maho!

We dont have much planned for the weekend. Getting together with some friends for dinner, KATS, church, beach. Just your average weekend. Next weekend is opening day for Tball and Softball. The kids are really looking forward to it.

A special friend

I was sitting at the kitchen couter last night reading my high quality literature. Yes I am addicted to the Twilight series. I need help. Anyway, who should come wandering in our kitchen window...yep you guessed it a rat. I yelled, ran to the couch, both kids hopped up onto the couch too. By the time Jay walked over to the kitchen window the rat "crawled out the hole on the left". Quinn was watching. Time to get in touch with Terminix again.
