How to Catch a Ray by Jay

M "What was that noise"
J "Nothing Just the soap scrubber thing falling" M closes window
M "I am going downstairs" Goes to turn off fans
M "Jay there is a rat on the counter" M stands on couch for a better look.
J goes to untensil crock and pulls out M's favorite spatula and begins the hunt for the rat. Turns on lights. Looks in sink. Turns on water. Lifts up pot in sink. Oh look there is the rat sitting on the bowl. "Oh crap"
M "I really like that spatula, its one of may favorites"
J "Do you have one that is not a favorite"
M "Not really, I only have 2"
Rat runs behind coffee maker. J uses coffe maker to crush rat.
J "What can I pick this thing up with that you dont like"
M"Here use this tong spatula thing"
J scoops up rat and puts in bag
J "Now what do I do with it" "Do you have any tuperware you dont like?"

Rat is in a plastic bag in an upside down tupperware container on my dining room table.

J" I will take it when I leave in the morning"

We are Back

We got back on Saturday from our 2+week long vaction. It was great to get off of the Island and see some family in the states. The wedding in Oregon was beautiful! We had so much fun that week with the Wicklund's seeing everything in and around Sunriver Oregon. The kids favorite part was bike riding. From there Jay came back to St.John and the kids and I went to Bloomington Indiana for a week to see Susie and Uldis. While there we had a nice visit with Grandma and Grandpa Koch. We also hit a few museums, the state fair, drive in and did some back to school shopping. Oh and we also got to celebrate Susies bday.

The kids are glad to be back and looking forward to school starting after Labor day. I have been spending most of my days up at school beginning to get ready for school to start. I have to work all next week so I am hoping to get some things done ahead of time. Jay leaves tomorrow for a meeting in Atlanta. He is going to spend a few days up there, maybe get in some golf, and hopefully bring me back some Duke's mayo.

Fair Update

Yesterday at the State Fair was awesome!! We saw the Clydesdale horses, cows (the kids got to pet a calf), chickens, ducks, and all the agriculture. The kids also got to ride some rides. We rode a tractor all the way around the fair grounds. On our way out the Clydesdale horses were getting ready for their competition. We stayed and watched and wow was it amazing! They had the single cart competition and then the unicorn, 4 horse and 6 horse competition. It was amazing to watch the 6 horses attached to a wagon drive around the arena. The kids had fun trying to pick out a winner out of each group. Neither child fell asleep on the way home so by the time they went to bed it was 10:30. The night before, after 11. There is only so much you can squeeze into a day so we have had to start using the night.

Indiana state fair

The kids are busy planting and harvesting in the kids zone so it is break time.

Vacation's all I ever wanted

We are in Indiana after a wonderful time in Oregon. The wedding was beautiful and we saw and did lots of interesting and different things. I will post some of the pictures once we get home this weekend. The kids and I are here in Bloomington while Jay is at home in St.John anxiously watching the weather to make sure Hurricane Bill comes no where near us.

Here is what we have planned this week. Today we are off to the Indiana State Fair. Then it is the King Tut exhibit, Holiday world, and the Indianapolis zoo later in the week. We head home on Saturday to begin getting ready for school.

A Night at the Drive In

We are at the drive in to see the movie G force. We came prepared with pillows, chairs, blankets, and drinks. The popcorn came from the concession stand. The kids just did a taste test to see which was better, Diet Check cola or Big K cola. The winner was Diet Check cola, straight from Florida.

So Far

It is only Monday but we have had a great time so far. Yesterday Mary's family and friends came over for a barbeque. Hi to my loyal blog readers, Aunt Nancy and Uncle Phil! It was great visiting with everyone and catching up.

Today we went to the High Desert Museum and enjoyed seeing the animals that we do not normally see. Then we headed into Bend for a late lunch. Home we went for another bike riding trip. The resort we are staying at has 37 miles of bike trails. The house we are staying in has 4 and we rented 2 for the kids. They are constantly on and off the bikes. They dont know it yet but we are going to ride into the village for ice cream one day.

Tomorrow Jay is golfing with his dad and I am heading to Bend to do shopping. Tomorrow afternoon we are going to head to Mt.Bachelor and ride to the top.

Life Back to Normal

My fun ended last Sunday around 11:30pm. The kids, all 3 of them, gave up their seats in Atlanta for 3 vouchers on Delta. Instead of landing at 3 they landed at 9 but they did get to fly first class, Walkers dream. That made for a few sleepy days but we made it through. We did our normal stuff this week, dinner with friends, Ronnies pizza, and playdates with friends.

Today we are heading to the beach and then dinner with friends. Before all of that and in between it is the usual, laundry. We do have to start packing for our tip to Oregon on Thursday. It will be a long, long. long day for us on Thursday but it will all be worth it.
