Our days in Indy

We have been having a great time in Indy. We have been to the grocery store every day! AAAhhhh the land of huge grocery stores! Of course I have been to Target and the dollar store. On Monday we went to see High School Musical 3, Senior Year. We were the only ones in the theatre. Thank goodness since Walker sang all the songs outloud. It has been nice to just sit around an relax. Jay came in yesterday afternoon as did Pete and Ashley. Mitch and Lanie come in tonight. Jack, Laura, Audrey and Audrey's boyfriend arrive on Thanksgiving. It should be a grand time as usual.

Dear Mrs. Gray

Dear Mrs. Gray,

Puking our way throught the Midwest

Quinn got sick on Thursday night in the hotel room. He threw up every two hours starting at 1130. When he threw up the second time he sat in the hotel toilet by accident. He felt better in the morning so we headed to the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago. We had a great time there until he decided to throw up the ice cream that his Aunt had bought him. We then left and headed down to Bloomington. He napped until we stopped for lunch. He did not eat but his sister did. 6 minutes into the car ride Walker decided it was her turn to throw up. Luckly we were prepared and had a bunch of plastic bags. Once we got to Aunt Susie and Uncle Uldis's house she christined thier brand new hardwood floors by throwing up on them.

It is 1154 on Saturday and two meals later they are feeling better. How do I know, they are wrestling.

Wedding

We had our first on island beach wedding. Congratulations Ashley and MJ! Check out the guy in the speedo. He must have walked past the wedding 5 or 6 times!

Mr. Luke

Mr.Wooke (as my kids say) has left the states and put himself in "his own paradise", Hanoi Vietnam. Luke will be there for 3 years working for the state dept. I guess I the chances of him turning up on my doorstep are pretty slim.

Tennis at Caneel Bay

Jay has played tennis here a bit with the pro over at Caneel Bay, Patrick. There is also a junior on island that Jay hits with. Yesterday Caneel Bay had a tennis exhibition. James Blake's brother Thomas Blake was there along with another player put on a tennis exhibition. We went over and checked it out. Somehow the kids ended up in the front row chatting with two St.John residents. By far the funniest part was watching Quinn stand next to Thomas Blake. Thomas is at least 6'6'"! Quinn just stood there and looked up!

Coral World

We went to Coral World today on St.Thomas. Coral World is an aquarium with most of their tanks outside. We saw a diver in the tank, the shark feeding, sting ray feeding, and a sea lion show. Nothing was typical they way you would expect in the states. The guy that was answering questions while the diver was in the tank had his shoes duct taped together. At the shark feeding the lady asked us to be quiet because we were explaining things to our kids. At the sting ray feeding we were the ones feeding the stingrays. At the sea lion show the sea lion walked into the room and hung out about 5 feet in front of us. There was a rope separating us from the sea lion. It was an interesting visit. After our visit we went to our friend Carrie and her son Sam (he is in my class) condo and swam in their pool for a few hours. Thanks Carrie and Sam!

Jay's latest toy

Chelsea Drug store finally got the bug swatters back in stock. We had two of the rechargeable ones with a guard on them, they did nothing! This time I went for the battery operated ones without the guard. Basically its a mini tennis racquet that electrocutes mosquitos! Jay chased them around the house with Walker following him videoing him. They tried to get a live shot of the kill but to no avail.

KATS Raffle Tickets

Walker is selling raffle tickets to raise money for KATS. If they draw your name in the raffle you win a 10 foot inflatable dinghy with motor and trailer. It has been funny listening to her solicit buyers for the tickets. She was talking to Mary today and asked her. From the way that Walker explained it to her Mary thought we were going to see the play Cats in Chicago and did she want a ticket. When she was talking to George she told him that the person with the most tickets wins prizes. She neglected to tell him about the boat. When she was talking to Matt she told him that if he bought a ticket and won the boat it would be her boat and "thank you very much for the boat". Quinn has even joined in on the fun, he bought 2 tickets for $10. Imagine a 6 year old parting with his money! If you see Walker you might want to run the other way, she is hitting everyone up!

For all you complainers

It is not easy to take pictures of the job site. Lucky for us there is a blog that takes weekly pictures of what is happening at the Pond Bay job site. If you would like to see how the job has been progressing click here http://www.stjohntalk.com/blog/. Check back with them every Friday to see what has been done. As Jay did point out to me, the picture wasn't taken on Friday, maybe Wednesday or Thursday.

Job Site

Here is a photo of the job site from across the pond.

Flat Tire

I have no idea how it happend but the day before the hurricane hit I got a flat tire. I know this is old news but I forgot to post the pictures. It was fun to get fixed since the spare was also flat. I got to go and hang out at the EC gas station and watch them "try" to fix the tire. We ended up swapping out all of the tires on the car for different size ones. Now the car makes funny noises when you turn the wheel. I am hoping if I hit enough pot holes it will self correct itself.

Time change

What time change? We dont change our clocks here on St. John, we don't like change. Everything must always stay the same especially the time.

Birthday

Happy Birthday Jay! What did he get, breakfast in bed, a morning at church with a special blessing from Father Antony (anthony but it comes out the other way), an afternoon at Maho, finally a special dinner. Happy Birthday!

Halloween, St.John stlye

Check out this web site to see what our family did for Halloween. We had a blast trick or treating at Mongoose Junction (basically a shopping area). All the kids ran around while the adults watched them and had cocktails. Tons of fun!
