8 Tuff Miles...the Results

The race is over! I have to say it was a lot of fun!
We were at the start by the National Park dock at 6:30 for a 7:15 start. Before the race started there was the Virgin Islands Anthem, the National Anthem, and a fly over! They had a Coast Guard helicoptor do a fly over over the start. Off we went!
David, Bridget's boyfriend, started at the front and finished way before us. It took him 1 hour and 10 minutes-79th place. Bridget finished in 1 hour 30 minutes-127th place and I finished in 1 hour 49 minutes-205th place. I made it in under 2 hours. I might not be able to walk for the next few days but I finished!

Here we are approaching water station 1...also known as the Pond Bay water station. Jay and the kids were there handing out water with Heather and a bunch of Pond Bay folks.

The finishers!

We made it!

See you all next year!

8 Tuff Miles

Tomorrow is the big race. I know that some of you are wondering, what is the big deal about a 8 mile road race. Well the big deal is that you start at sea level, go up 933 feet and end at sea level.

Not to mention there are a couple of hills thrown in there, just a couple! It should be a blast. The race starts at 7:15. My goal is to do it in under 3 hours. I dont plan on running most of it, the hills are pretty steep, and I could probably walk just as fast, we shall see.

Walker, Quinn and Jay will be at water station #1. They are the official photographers so hopefully they will take some good pictures!

Ms.Bridget is here!

Ms. Bridget arrived today! She is here for a vacation and to run the 8 tuff miles! For those of you who dont her, Bridget went to school with Jay. She also runs the pool and youth activities at the club in Dunwoody. The kids love her and so do we! Her boyfriend comes on Friday and we cannot wait to meet him! We should have tons of fun this weekend, if we can walk!

The Butterfly Farm

We went to the Butterfly Farm on St.Thomas today. We did not have school since it was President's Day. We went with the Morris Family, Arjuna, Ananda, and Anandini, our partners in crime. The kids learned about the life cycle of a butterfly and then had the opportunity to have a butterfly land on them. We finished off the day with McDonalds for lunch and a quick trip to Cost-u-less for those missing groceries.

Boating with the Majettes'

The Majette Family invited us come out on their boat with them on Sunday. Jay was off fishing so off the kids and I went. We had a blast! We went over to White Bay on Jost Van Dye. The kids played, swam, ate and drank shirley temples. The adults sat around enjoyed ourselves and commented on many of the visitors to the Soggy Dollar Bar. On the way home is when the fun really started. We anchored off of Solomon Beach on St. John, craked the music and the dancing started! Wait the dancing started as soon as the kids were done jumping off the side of the boat!

Katha, Walker and Winn waiting for the boat to arrive.

Quinn and Adelaide smacking the waves on the way to White Bay.

The cannonball king.

Getting ready to dance!

They could have danced all night!

A beautiful end to a perfect day.

New Couches

While I was cleaning on Saturday I noticed that our couch (or as they say in Indiana, some parts of Boston and in Pottery Barn, sofas) had some dog food "stored" inside of it. We opened up the sleeper part, we had never done that, and were grossed out by what was inside. The couch and love seat went outside and to the dumpster. Jay and Marty put them by the dumpster on Saturday evening and they were gone by Sunday am. We now have a newer and more comfortable couch and love seat.

Walker's Sleepover

Walker had her birthday sleepover on Friday. Yes I am exhausted and have not caught up on sleep. The 6 girls had a great time. They went swimming, had pizza and cake for dinner, swam some more, played, watched a movie. They finally went to sleep around 12am. Up they were at 613 am and in the pool by 7am. Lucky for me Walker had KATS so everyone was gone by 930am. We spent the rest of the weekend cleaning, relaxing and being with friends. We are looking forward to next weekends long weekend.

Yes I am crazy

Tomorrow Walker is having the 6 girls in her class spend the night for her birthday. I will let you know if I survive!

The triple bagger

Quinn and Walker come running into the room a few minutes ago holding their noses complaning of the smell in their room. I had been in there all evening so I could only imagine...gas? stinky feet? I went in and boy did it smell like bad gas, stinky feet and something rotten. Was it a dead animal? Nope, Walker found an old water bottle with black stuff growing on the inside that had been there "since last year" and decided to open it then put it in the bathroom. I triple bagged it and put it by the door for the dumpster tomorrow.
