Finally

I have been trying to get these pictures of Quinn playing up here but have not had time. It is eaiser to take pictures of Walker.  Her league is a lot less formal and they will let you on the field to take pictures.  It is harder to access Quinn's field.  The are a lot less access points. I guess the boys need more corralling then the girls do!  Back we go tonight for 2 more games.

Ballpark update

WOW!  Walker's 2 games were amazing. They were fun to watch and cheer!  Since it is a select team all the girls can play.  They won the first game 19-7.  They won the second game in stellar fashion.  The other team  caught up in the bottom of the 4th as the rain started.  They went ahead 10-8.  Top of the 5th the rain stopped and Walker's team went ahead 15-10.  Bottomof the fifth...Walker caught one for one of the outs and threw to 1st to help with another.  The Red Murphey Candler Select team won 15-12.  Great game, very exciting!  Thanks to Abby, Julia, and Kelly for coming out to watch!

Back at the ballpark

Walker has been selected to play on a select/allstar team. They play  on Sundays. Today they are playing 2. One at 1 and another at 4. We were here yesterday from 9:15-3:45. Walker played first and then one of her coaches asked if she wanted to play up a division and play another game. She loves it so much she said yes! Off we went to another field.

In the meantime Quinn headed over to his game. Quinn played great. A hit everytime! He also made some great plays in the field. Walker won both of hers and Quinn lost his.

Both kids are loving playing. I keep food, water, a chair, blankets, mittens and a scarf in the back of the car. You never know.

Results from Friday

Both kids won their games!  It was kinda wild from a Mom standpoint.  Walker left for her game midway through Quinn's game. Jay went with her(he is helping out for both teams).  After Quinn's game we got something to eat at the concession stand.  Quinn decided to leave his bag there and head to the other side of the park to Walkers game.  Luckly Scott was still here (Scott, Crissie, Bo and Cole came to watch the kids) and he brought it back.  Midway through Walkers game she realized she left her sweatshirt over at Quinns game. So over I went.  It was a lot of back and forth.  I am sure this will not  be the only time!

Here is how they did.

Quinn was part of a toss from center field to second for an out.  In this league, from what I have seen, it is either fluke plays, strikeouts or run limits that end the innings.  He  got 2 rbi's.  The final score was 11-9.

Walker ran someone down twice to tag them for the out. Once between second and third and once between first and second.  She finally figuired it out.  Before when she ran someone down she had the ball in one hand and the glove in the other. She then tagged them with the glove, no out. This time she had the ball in her hand and her hand in the glove.  The final score was 11-3.

Two more games on tap for today!

What's on tap

No, not beer.   But if you are curious what we have it is Sweetwater 420, Thanks Bill!

Anyway, here is our weekend schedule.  Friday 5:30 baseball 7pm softball   Saturday 1:30 baseball 3pm softball.  50to  Bags of mulch to spread and 1 playset to haul to the curb.

Quinn had is first game last Sunday.  They lost  6 - 7.  It was fun to see him plae in his first real game. I have pictures which I will post this weekend.  Walker had a game Tuesday which they won 14-6.  They pounded the purple puppies.  She hit a huge shot into left field in the air the whole way.  It was awesome.  Off to the ball park!

Vanderdash

Vanderlyn Elementary had 2 road races today, a 5K and a 1 mile fun run.  Walker and Jay ran the fun run, well actually Jay ran it and Walker held true to her name and walked it.  Quinn and I ran the 1 mile fun run.

Cancelled

All games and the opening ceremonies yesterday were cancelled today and yesterday due to wet fields. It has rained every day since Wednesday with a serious downpour yesterday.  Quinn is making his game up tomorrow and Walker one day this week.

He finally lost the other one

toilet paper

Jay has a phobia of putting toilet paper on the toilet paper roll holder.  He will go under the counter and get some and put it right next to where it has to go.  Thursday night I had had enough after there was not any toilet paper left in our bathroom.  Jay happend to be out with the guys so I took all the toilet paper we had and put it in his side of the bed.  His laughing woke me up when he got home.

Walker's First Game

The Red Fire were victorious in their first game 12-2.  Walker played 3rd, 1st, and pitcher.  She has been asked to play on the select team for her age group.  She seems to really enjoy it and we figuired we were going to be at Murphey Candler most days so why not!

Opening day for softball

Walker played her first game today. She did awesome!
