Quinn pitching

We got this great camera for Christmas (thanks Mary and John!).  I have been having a great time taking pictures of the kids playing baseball and softball.  It has a sports setting for rapid fire pictures. These are some of Quinn pitching on Monday during his baseball game. Quinn's pitching stats.  Walked 1, hit 1, and struck out 3...not in that order.  The inning after he pitched the boy he hit was the pitcher and he accidentally hit Quinn. Of course both boys had huge grins on their faces once they realized that they had each hit each other!

Victory!

It was a victorious weekend for the Wicklund children and an exhausting one for their parents!  Let's start it off...

Walker played in the "Step up your Game" tournament in Hoschton, GA.  Walker and Jay left at 6:15 for a 7:15 warm up and an 8am game. Quinn and I headed up there to watch her play at 7:15.  The Flames lost the first game, it wasn't pretty.  Quinn and I watched them win their second game before we headed to Murphey Candler for his game.  Quinn played the undefeated Philles and won, 9-5.  He pitched great and made a great relay in from center field. While his game was going on Walker played 2 games and won them both.  We arrived back in Hoschton for the end of their 3rd game, another victory.  They were now in the championship game at 8:30 at night.  If they won, they won it all. If they lost they had to play another game against the same team since it was a double elimination tournament.  Over the course of the tournament, Walker through out 2 girls at second and was very close many times.  In the championship game she threw a girl out at first on a dropped third strike.  After regulation the game was tied 2-2.  In softball they play ITB, international tie breaker.  In ITB a girl is placed on second, a base runner.  From there you play the way a normal inning would play out.  We went ahead 3-2 after the first half of the inning.  The other team was up...bases loaded, 1 out and one of their players popped up to 2nd base, she caught it and threw to first, double play!  And a championship for the Flames!!
Sunday, its Quinn's turn to play again and another victory 11-9!  He pitched great!  He also spent an inning like his sister, playing catcher.  The best was him playing right field not paying a lick of attention.

Sunday night, its date night with Bruce Springsteen!

Go Rangers!

Quinn had his second baseball game this afternoon.  The opening ceremonies were last night.  Quinn played great!  He had two great hits and a good inning of pitching.  I was finally able to get the camera out and take some pictures of him playing, instead of Walker!  For the season he will play 2 games week and have one practice.  It is back to the ball park for us!  As I just read a few minutes ago, "Little league is a good thing, it keeps the parents off the streets"  Go Rangers!

Play ball!

Quinn had his first game tonight. He is on the Texas Rangers. He was 2 for 3 with a strikeout and 2 singles. He also pitched an inning. He took his time and stuck out the 3 batters that he faced! The Rangers won, 10-8. Next games on Saturday.
