8 Tuff Miles...the After Party

We went to our neighbors, Miles and Susan Stair for an 8 Tuff Miles after party. We had to bring something Mexican. I was in no shape to cook, I was and still am "feeling it". Jay was in charge. What does he bring, this great Mexican dip..."it has Rotel in it so its Mexican". Here is how it is done..

1 lb sausage, browned and drained
1 lb cream cheese cut into chunks
1 can of rotel drained

Mix together and bake at 350 for 30 minutes

The dip was the hit of the party! As many of the guests commented on the dip I gave Jay all the credit he deserved. Here is on conversation I had...

Man.."This is the best dip I have ever had"
Me..."Thank you, my husband made it"
Man..."Congratulations!"
Me..."I am so proud of him"

A friend of ours took a bunch of pictures from the top of Bordeaux Mt which is near where they live. They also have 2 adorable girls that are in my class. Here is the link to his stores web site, he posted a bunch of pictures from the race http://www.big-planet.com/pages/8-tuff-miles-2009

8 Tuff Miles...the Results

The race is over! I have to say it was a lot of fun!
We were at the start by the National Park dock at 6:30 for a 7:15 start. Before the race started there was the Virgin Islands Anthem, the National Anthem, and a fly over! They had a Coast Guard helicoptor do a fly over over the start. Off we went!
David, Bridget's boyfriend, started at the front and finished way before us. It took him 1 hour and 10 minutes-79th place. Bridget finished in 1 hour 30 minutes-127th place and I finished in 1 hour 49 minutes-205th place. I made it in under 2 hours. I might not be able to walk for the next few days but I finished!

Here we are approaching water station 1...also known as the Pond Bay water station. Jay and the kids were there handing out water with Heather and a bunch of Pond Bay folks.

The finishers!

We made it!

See you all next year!

8 Tuff Miles

Tomorrow is the big race. I know that some of you are wondering, what is the big deal about a 8 mile road race. Well the big deal is that you start at sea level, go up 933 feet and end at sea level.

Not to mention there are a couple of hills thrown in there, just a couple! It should be a blast. The race starts at 7:15. My goal is to do it in under 3 hours. I dont plan on running most of it, the hills are pretty steep, and I could probably walk just as fast, we shall see.

Walker, Quinn and Jay will be at water station #1. They are the official photographers so hopefully they will take some good pictures!
